Our holidays have been rather quiet, and that is fine with me. I have alot at home to keep me busy: candle-making, reading, writing and other tasks that I enjoy. We celebrated Thanksgiving with my partner’s family, where I enjoyed lots of great food and watched some of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. We were there for a couple of hours and then returned home. It was a relaxing day. I had to work the following day and a co-worker asked me if Witches celebrated Thanksgiving. I explained to her about Mabon, (what some of us call the “Witch’s Thanksgiving” which takes place in September at the Autumn Equinox), and that I also celebrate the muggle Thanksgiving as well. “You’re lucky”, she told me, “You get to celebrate Thanksgiving twice”. I do have alot to be thankful for. I have a partner who loves me, a roof over my head, food on the table, a job and a vehicle, and so much more. I do not take any of it for granted.
I finished some Handfasting candles, and I am very pleased with how they turned out. They will be available soon at ARCANA in Salem, Massachussetts. I am currently working on some special candles as Yule gifts for a few friends. I love being creative and making magickal things, and my spirit guides are constantly giving me inspiration. Yesterday I made some Candy Cane and Egg Nog flavored white-chocolate pentacles. I used a pentacle candy mold that I ordered from Silver Enchantments (they have several pagan-themed candy and soap molds), and they’re very easy to use.
We’ve started putting up some of our Yule decorations, and we’ll go get a tree next weekend. We always have a live tree, and we decorate it with Harry Potter ornaments, most of which we made ourselves. It is quite a sight to behold, I’ve posted several photos of our previous Potter trees in my Facebook photos. This year we’re adding large Chocolate Frogs and Cornish Pixies. Once our tree is up and decorated, I’ll write a post about it and include several photos…wait til you see! Matt says we should send pictures to J. K. Rowling. I think our tree would look awesome in the Wizarding World. Speaking of Harry Potter, in two weeks we return to NYC to visit the Harry Potter Exhibition. We managed to get two free passes, and we are excited for this trip. We visited the exhibit the last time it was in NYC, but this time, they have added several new props and other items from the final two films-these items were not part of the previous exhibit.
We recently saw two new movies out in theatres: The Perks of Being a Wallflower and Breaking Dawn: Part Two (the final Twilight film). Both were awesome. Last night we went to Christkindlmarkt, a huge tent with vendors selling all manner of hand-made holiday crafts, ornaments and other items. I found a vendor selling pewter triquetras and witch charms for only 6$ a piece. They are perfect charms for my candles, so I picked up four of them.
It’s now nearly 8pm. Once Upon A Time will be on shortly, it’s one of my favorite TV programs, and I never miss it.
Til next time…
